Description
No. 32 Close is a house that dates back to the 15th century and has since been used as a cooperage, and is now a public house and restaurant. The building features a sandstone ground floor and the right side of the first floor, which supports timber-framed upper floors with rendered infill, while the right return has brick nogging. It has a pantiled roof and a gabled front that rises three storeys and consists of one bay. The central entrance is a plain wooden door beneath a wooden lintel, flanked by plain two-light windows. The first and second floors jetty out, each with plain windows in their upper sections, and diagonal corner bracing is visible on these floors. The top gable displays curved principals and studs, with a plain window inserted into a central blocked hoist opening. Inside, the building features curved principals, some of which are truncated at the collars at the apex.
