Description
The bust of Alderman Sir Charles F. Hamond, JP, DL, is located 50 meters north-east of the Lodge in Leazes Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. It was erected in 1905 to commemorate his efforts in obtaining the park in 1872. The bronze bust is mounted on a tapered sandstone pedestal, which is inscribed with his name and the dedication: "ERECTED/13 FEB 1905/ TO/COMMEMORATE/HIS SERVICE/IN OBTAINING/THIS PARK/IN/1872/." A laurel wreath is depicted below the inscription, along with the phrase "PALMAM CU MERUIT FERAT." The bust was noted to be damaged at the time of the survey.
