Description
Clavering House, dating from around 1780, is currently used as offices. It is constructed of English bond brick with a painted plinth and ashlar dressings, topped with a Welsh slate roof. The building has two storeys and features three wide bays, along with a two-storey, two-bay extension on the right. The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with an overlight, set within a pedimented doorcase and flanked by narrow windows. There is a round arched opening leading to a sash window, which has a blind head above, and is flanked by narrow blind windows that create a Venetian effect. The façade includes full-height, three-window sections beside shallow canted bays. All windows are sashes with glazing bars and are set under wedge stone lintels. The building has sill and eaves bands, and the double-span roof features a rear shaped gable with long hips over the canted bays. A massive renewed chimney is centrally located on the front ridge.
