Description

This is an 1871 office building designed by M. Thompson. It is constructed of sandstone ashlar with a Welsh slate roof, and is built in a Classical style. The building is four storeys high and comprises three bays. The ground and first floors feature rusticated quoins. The ground floor is articulated by panelled Corinthian pilasters. The first floor has arched windows with decorative keystones and imposts, alongside balustraded aprons. A prominent central feature consists of paired Corinthian columns supporting a pediment. Additional paired pilasters appear on the third floor and at the corners of the fourth floor, with the central corner pilasters being double width. A pierced parapet is topped with vases and a central feature. The building frames an important view of All Saints Church when viewed with the adjacent No. 23 Queen Street.
