Description
Barclays Bank is a house converted into a bank, built around 1837, likely designed by John Wardle for Richard Grainger. The building is constructed from painted sandstone ashlar and has four storeys with three bays. The ground floor features channelled rustication, with the left bay removed to create a recessed door under the first-floor corner, and the ground floor windows have been altered. The upper floors have sash windows with glazing bars set in plain reveals, and there is a sill band on the second floor. The building includes floor bands and cornices on each floor, with the cornice at the second floor being particularly prominent. A top blocking course completes the structure.
