Description
The railings and walls to the south and east of the Hospital of St Mary the Virgin Almshouses were built around 1858. They are made of stone and cast iron. At the southeast corner of the garden, there are low walls topped with fleur-de-lys-headed railings. The eastern boundary features similar walls with large piers that have sloped copings at regular intervals. Between these piers, there are tall rows of fleur-de-lys-headed railings, which are interspersed with shorter railings that have Gothic tracery.
