Description
Numbers 81 and 85, along with the house to the south of Number 85, are buildings that date from around 1837, likely designed by John Wardle for Richard Grainger. They are constructed from sandstone ashlar and rise to four storeys with a total of 12 bays, where the right six bays project slightly. The ground floor features 20th-century shop fronts, while the upper floors have sash windows, some of which include glazing bars, set in plain reveals. A band runs at the second floor level, accompanied by a prominent cornice above it and a top cornice. Additionally, two pedimented dormers have been inserted at the right end of the building. The right side of the structure faces Falconer's Court.
