Description
Nos. 19-31 on Grey Street are shops and houses that have been converted into offices. They were built around 1835, likely designed by John Wardle for Richard Grainger. The building is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof. The ground floor has been renewed but retains its plinth and flat Tuscan pilasters on the six right bays, which are adorned with channelled rustication. The upper floors are set back and have sash windows within architraves, most of which include glazing bars. The second floor has bracketed sills and a plain entablature with a prominent cornice. The third floor features sashes in plain reveals beneath an eaves band, cornice, and blocking course. Additionally, the roof has an added felt-covered head for a lift shaft. This building is recognized for its importance as part of a group.
