Description
No. 32 is a detached house built between 1978 and 1980 by Ralph Erskine's Arkitektkontor, with Vernon Gracie as the site architect and structural engineering by White, Young and Partners. The main contractor was Fairclough Building Limited. The house is constructed of grey brick, featuring brown weatherboarding on the entrance front and black weatherboarding on the garden front, topped with a monopitch blue metal roof. It has a square plan and stands three storeys tall, with a living room located on the first floor.
The entrance includes a projecting single-storey porch with a timber door beneath a sloping blue metal roof, and there is a blue door hood on the garden front. The windows are made of timber, with larger windows on the garden front that include aluminium opening lights. A black bird box is located at one end, and there are timber doors throughout. A green fence runs along the side of the property.
The front features stone walling that has been retained from previous development on the site, along with a set of Byker steps that provide access to the adjacent churchyard. This house is prominently situated on the brow of the hill.
