Description
This building, known as 1, 3, and 5, along with the attached fences, is a block of flats designed by Ralph Erskine's Arkitektkontor, constructed between 1974 and 1976. The site architect was Vernon Gracie, and the structural engineer was White, Young and Partners, with Shepherd Construction Limited as the main contractor. The building features pale brick and red weatherboarding on a concrete block work cross-wall frame, supported by a reinforced concrete open ground floor with exposed concrete stilts. It has a blue metal roof with plywood box beam purlins and consists of three storeys, including the open ground floor. Some yellow weatherboard struts are present at the eaves, and there are red balconies covered by plastic sheet roofs, with the right balcony extending over two storeys. Entrance stairs, also covered by similar roofs, are accessed from Grace Street, while the balconies and living rooms overlook Headlam Street. The interiors have not been inspected. For historical context and additional information, refer to Nos 1-75 Dunn Terrace.
