Description
This is a house located at 61 Ayton Rise in Newcastle upon Tyne, built between 1978 and 1981 by Ralph Erskine's Arkitektkontor, with Vernon Gracie as the site architect and White, Young and Partners as the structural engineer. The main contractor was Fairclough Buildings Ltd. The house is constructed from grey brick and features a monopitch roof covered with concrete Marley Modern tiles. It has three storeys and a square plan, with small timber windows at the front and larger windows facing the garden. The entrance includes a green door with a glazed panel, sheltered by a red metal hood. The design of this house is a deliberate contrast to the surrounding low, predominantly red brown timber-clad houses and resembles No. 32 Michaelgate. The interiors have not been inspected. For historical context and sources, refer to Nos 1-75 Dunn Terrace.
