Description

The houses at 1-3 Bentinck Place date to around 1850. They are a group of three buildings constructed with English garden wall bond brickwork, featuring a painted ashlar basement and ashlar dressings. The roofs are slate, with flat stone gables. Each house is two storeys high, with a basement and attics, and has three bays. Steps lead up to four-panelled doors with patterned glass overlights; the doors have architraves, as do the ground-floor windows. First-floor windows have a sill band. All windows are marginal sash windows. An eaves band and gutter cornice run along the top of the building. Segmental-headed dormers with patterned glazing bars are present on the attics of numbers 1 and 3. The building is punctuated by ridge brick chimneys.
