Description
Chapel House, located approximately 40 metres to the north-west of the chapel in the Gibside Estate, is an early 19th-century house. It is constructed of ashlar sandstone with a rubble rear extension and features a roof made of graduated Westmorland slate. The building is one storey high and consists of three one-bay sections. The central entrance has double doors made of six beaded panels, topped by a fanlight with glazing bars. There are round-headed sash windows, also with glazing bars, set in plain reveals that include voussoirs. The house has a plinth, a sill band, and an eaves cornice. The hipped roof is complemented by a rear corniced ashlar chimney. There is a later rear extension that is one storey high and consists of three bays.
