Description

The ice house, located about 90 metres west and 170 metres south of Gibside Hall, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and earth, featuring a hemispherical mound that includes a chamfered stone entrance. Inside, there is a brick-lined tunnel leading to a hemispherical brick chamber.
