Description
The Musgrave School, originally known as Forres Villa, is an 1854-5 building of ashlar construction, distinguished by raised alternating block quoins. The roof is covered with Welsh slate, featuring fish-scale banding. The architecture is in a picturesque “Tudorbethan” style. The building is two storeys high with three bays, the outer bays projecting under gabled roofs with carved bargeboards. It features mullioned windows, with transoms to the ground floor, set within moulded reveals and raised quoins. A matching door surround is also present. Stone chimney stacks are topped with a variety of tall, patterned terracotta pots. The building possesses curiosity value and was originally constructed for J B Falconar.
