Description

This is an early 19th century corner building situated on Bishopton Lane, originally forming part of Leeds Street. It comprises six windows facing north and three windows facing east. The building is constructed of brick, with numbers 55 to 59 rendered and having a painted pebbledash finish; stone quoins are visible on the Leeds Street elevation, along with stone bands. The windows are plate glass sashes, although the window at number 61 has later glazing. A wooden fascia cornice with modillions runs along the gutter line. The roof is slate, with a hipped section facing Leeds Street. Modern shop fronts occupy the ground floor, with number 59 featuring a Doric doorpiece with a blocking course and a rectangular light above the door. A pilastered portico is present on the Leeds Street side. A long, two-storey rendered extension runs along Leeds Street, featuring one window with a decorative surround and glazing bars.
