Description
The Church of St John the Baptist was rebuilt in 1841, using masonry from the original church that dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries. The building features coursed rubble and a slated roof, designed in an early lancet style. It includes a nave, chancel, and a bellcote. The south doorway and chancel arch are Norman, showcasing chevron and beakhead moulding, while the arch over the vestry door is adorned with nailhead detailing. Inside, there is a rood screen and figures created in 1907 by Sir Ninion Comfer, as well as an early 14th-century effigy of a knight. Additionally, there is a memorial tablet for Sutton from 1792.
