Description
This building is a group of farm outbuildings located 25 meters south of Foxdale Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. The structure is arranged around a covered fold-yard and includes a byre on the north side, stables on the east side, and loose boxes on the south and west sides. The north, east, and west sides are constructed from random rubble sandstone, while the south side features chevron-dressed sandstone. The south and west sides have hipped roofs made of Welsh slate with stone ridge copings, while late 20th-century asbestos sheeting covers the north and east sides. The building is single storey, and the loose boxes have semi-circular arched openings that face the fold-yard. The fold-yard has a pyramidal roof with a raised center section, topped with an ornamental zinc-clad finial and a fox weather vane above a timber lantern. The entire roof is supported by four intersecting timber trusses, which rest on a single central circular dressed sandstone column with a cushion capital, dating from around 1850, along with similar short drum-like piers that rise from above the eaves of each of the surrounding buildings.
