Description

The Anchor Inn is a public house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from dressed sandstone and features a late 20th century clay pantile roof, with stone gable copings and brick stacks at the gables. The building has two storeys and two bays. The central doorway is framed by a simple timber pilaster-and-entablature surround, and it has a six-panelled door with a blocked rectangular fanlight above. On the ground floor, there are mid-19th century canted bay windows, while the first floor has two windows, all of which are sashes with glazing bars and stone sills. The bar interior retains early 20th century fittings. There are extensions to the rear on the west side, but these are not of interest.
