Description
The drinking fountain, dating from the late 19th century, is located approximately 9 meters west of The Waterwheel Inn in Loftus, Liverton Village. It is set against a mid-20th century wall and constructed from cast iron and coursed sandstone rubble. The fountain features an arched iron slab mounted on the wall, adorned with a nailhead-ornamented border and decorative foliate and scroll crestings. It includes a drum with a spout positioned above an integral semicircular basin. Two chained cups are suspended from a ring above the basin. The fountain has integral lettering that reads "KEEP THE PAVEMENT DRY." It was disused at the time of the survey.
