Description

This planter, located in the walled garden about 70 yards north-west of Coupland Castle, is likely medieval in origin. It is made of sandstone and measures approximately 27 inches square and 12 inches high, featuring convex sides. Each corner is adorned with projecting beasts' heads. The sides of the planter display decorative bands that include roll mouldings and interlaced circles, each containing crosses with central roundels. Originally, this planter served as a font.
