Description

The garden walls, gateway, and steps south of Angerton Hall date to 1904 and were designed by Lutyens. The walls are constructed of squared and rock-faced stone with ashlar dressings, and include wrought-iron gates. They define a sunken garden adjacent to the south front of Angerton Hall. The left return features tall piers with moulded caps framing an apsidal recess, while the right return has similar piers supporting a gate decorated with a naturalistic vine design. A balustraded terrace wall extends east from the north gate pier, with flanking steps, and returns north at the end of the terrace.
