Description
Haydon Spa is a 19th-century spa well, enclosed in the 19th century. It features a rectangular walled enclosure made of rock-faced stone with dressed stone details and a coping that is also rock-faced and margined. The enclosure is surrounded by cast iron railings on three sides, and there are five steps leading down from the riverside path. The well itself is set in a small round-headed recess, which has an inscription reading "A. JUNE 6TH 1863" above it, along with the letter "D" and a moulded cornice. Above the well, there is a grey granite slab with an inscription that commemorates its restoration by public subscription in 1897, marking the occasion of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee.
