Description
Elrington Hall Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of rubble that is partly rendered, featuring quoins and dressings. The roof is slate with stone-coped gables that have kneelers. The building has a T-plan layout with a rear stair wing and is two storeys high with three windows. The central door is framed by a dressed stone surround and is set within a later glazed porch. The windows are all altered sashes with tooled lintels, alternating jambs, and slightly projecting sills. On the right side of the house, there is a blocked single-light window from the 17th century on the first floor and a small casement in the attic. The left side features late 19th century and 20th century windows. The rear elevation has outshuts at each end and various openings from the 19th century.
Inside, there is a square-headed door with wave moulding leading from the outshut into the wing, and a blocked two-light mullioned window can be seen from the staircase. The roof retains original collar-beam trusses.
