Description
These farm buildings, located approximately 20 yards east of Sandy House Farmhouse, date from the late 18th century to early 19th century. They are constructed from porphyry rubble with sandstone dressings and feature Welsh slate roofs. The buildings form four ranges around a farmyard.
The west range is a single-storey byre that includes one stable-type door and one boarded door, topped with a gabled roof. The north range consists of single-storey shelter sheds with two segmental arches, although one of these arches is now blocked. The south range serves as a single-storey cart shed supported by three cast-iron columns, with one-bay stores on either side. The east range is a two-storey threshing barn that includes a granary above. Originally, the threshing machinery was water-driven. This range features one stable-type door and a half-slatted window above, along with a hipped roof. At the rear of this range, remnants of the water race and the housing for the water wheel can still be seen.
