Description
The Old Watch Tower and attached walls, located in the grounds of The Grange, is a former harbourmaster's office, likely built in the early 18th century. The structure is primarily constructed of brick in an irregular stretcher bond, except for the external faces and lower courses of the office's walls, which are made of large squared stone. The walls feature flat slab coping, and the building has a Welsh slate roof.
The office is a two-storey square building with a front that displays two round arches, which are fitted with 20th-century glazing, and a renewed 16-pane sash window above, supported by a soldier lintel. The roof is pyramidal and topped with a restored griffin weathervane. The left side of the building has a similar window, while the right side features a restored stone stair leading to a renewed door, also under a soldier lintel.
To the south, there is an attached wall that stands 1.5 metres high with gabled coping, and to the east, a longer attached wall rises to 5 metres, featuring flat coping and a slightly higher central section.
