Description
DENWICK HUMBLEHEUGH NU 11 NE NU 171185 6/79 South part of farmbuilding range 20 metres north- east of Humbleheugh Farmhouse II
Farmbuilding incorporating byre, henhouse, shelter sheds and granary. Early C19. Roughly-squared stone with rubble to rear; tooled-and-margined quoins and dressings. Roof of C20 synthetic blue slates. East elevation (to farmyard] 2 storeys, 4 bays. Left bay has central stable door to byre, flanked by slit vents on both floors; to right segmental arcade to shelter shed with low windows to granary above. Coped gables. Left return shows external stair to boarded henhouse door. Rear elevation; right bay has doorway and henhole with stone shelf above, both flanked by slit vents: granary windows to left. Doorways, windows and arches all have chamfered alternating-block surrounds.
Interior: interior of henhouse lined with stone nesting boxes in wall thickness.
