Description
The outbuildings located on the north and east sides of the rear courtyard of Morwick Hall date from the mid-18th century. They are constructed of squared stone with cut dressings, except for the west wall, which is made of brick in an irregular part-Flemish bond, and feature a Welsh slate roof. The buildings are arranged in an L-plan around the courtyard, with a wall enclosing the west side.
The north range is two storeys high and has five irregular bays. It features a chamfered plinth and a ground-floor sill band. There is a carriage entrance near the centre, with a timber lintel and a 20th-century sliding door to the right. To the left, there is a stable with a centre-folding boarded door flanked by 12-pane sash windows. The first floor has 2-pane casements set directly beneath the eaves, and there is an old brick lateral stack near the right end. The roof is hipped to the left, and there is a two-step mounting block near the stable door. The left return of this range displays rusticated quoins and a blind round arch that holds a blocked window in a chamfered stone surround.
The east range consists of two bays, featuring a boarded door with a 12-pane sash to the right. At the left end, there is a through passage, and at the right end, there is a round-arched recess with imposts that connects to the Hall. The upper windows have been altered to raking half dormers that hold plain sashes, and the ridge stack has been rebuilt.
The wall on the west side of the courtyard is one metre high, with slightly-arched coping that curves in at each end. The north elevation shows boarded double doors under a 20th-century timber lintel near the centre, three renewed 12-pane sashes to the left, and three smaller 20th-century casements to the rear. There are also four 2-pane casements and a boarded pitching door above.
