Description
The Market Tavern is a late 18th-century building located on Fenkel Street. It stands three storeys high and features two windows on the front facade. The exterior is finished in painted ashlar, with cill courses on the first and second floors and a moulded eaves cornice. The roof is slate, supported by two brick chimneys.
On the second floor, there are two-light casement windows, while the first floor showcases three-light stone corbelled oriels with plate glass sash windows. The ground floor includes two large segmental-headed windows with a moulded cornice above. To the left, there is a tall doorway with a moulded architrave and panelled reveals, featuring central panels with painted arches. There is also a through-passage entrance on the left, which formerly led to Craster Place. At the rear, there is a three-storey annexe with a total of seven windows, most of which have glazing bar sashes.
