5/3 Lychgate to Bellingham Cemetery

II

Lychgate. c1920. Ashlar with stone slate roof. Arts and Craft style. Front has pointed arch with one step and 2 chamfers dying into imposts. Left and right are square recesses with double roll-moulded surrounds and dates of World Wars. Above the arch is a sword and wreath carved in high relief, part of the sword forming the letter I of the inscription IN MEMORIAM 1914/18. Mansard roof with swept coping to each pitch creating a wavy profile.
