Description
The Church of St. Oswald is a Roman Catholic church built in 1839 by Ignatius Bonomi. It is constructed of dressed stone with a Welsh slate roof. The church features a nave and chancel combined into one space, along with an east bellcote. The structure has three bays, with the south side displaying two sets of paired lancet windows beneath dripstones and a gabled porch topped with a foliated cross finial. The north wall is blank. The east end showcases three stepped lancets under a continuous dripstone, two trefoil windows above the side lights, and an elaborate bellcote supported by moulded corbels. The gable includes a roundel with a pierced trefoil, crocketed pinnacles, and another foliated cross finial. Inside, the church has a plain interior, and there is a monument by John Green located in the south porch.
