Description

Nos. 16 and 16A on Castle Street are a house dating from the early 19th century, constructed from tooled stone that is of near-ashlar quality. The building features a Welsh slate roof with one rendered and one rebuilt brick chimney stack. It is two storeys high and has three windows. There is a plinth and a band at the first floor level. A set of three steps leads up to a pair of doors at the left end; the door for No. 16 is a six-panel door with a decorative patterned overlight, while No. 16A has a vertical-panelled door with a three-pane overlight. The windows are 12-pane sash windows with slightly projecting sills. The building is topped with a moulded eaves cornice and has a coped gable at the right end, where the chimney stack has been rebuilt on an old base.
