Description

The boat house, located approximately 450 yards north-east of Belsay Hall, was built between 1820 and 1830 by Sir Charles Monck. Originally intended for a lake that was never filled, it later served as a summerhouse. The structure is made of dressed stone and features a Welsh slate roof. It is a single-storey building with three bays, including a pointed-arched central door and similar windows, all set in raised surrounds. Much of the carpentry has been removed.

Inside, there are two rooms: one was a kitchen with a large fireplace, and the other has two pointed-arched niches flanking a fireplace. The roof is hipped and includes end stacks.
