Description

The cascade at the east end of Belsay Lake, located approximately 270 yards south of Belsay Hall, was built in the early 19th century for Sir Charles Monck. It is constructed from dressed stone and stands about 10 feet high, featuring a steeply-pitched curved facade. Below the cascade, there is a stone-paved invert to the stream bed, along with low stone approach walls and flanking walls.
