Description

The gate screen, located 80 metres south-west of Morwick Hall, dates from the late 18th century and was brought from Tynemouth to Morwick by Mr. William Linskill around 1860. It is constructed of squared stone with ashlar piers. The main piers feature monolithic octagonal shafts with moulded plinths, moulded caps adorned with acanthus friezes, and domed tops. There is a short quadrant wall to the east and a 7-metre length of straight wall to the west, both standing 1.7 metres high. The attached lower rubble walls are not considered to be of special interest.
