Description
No. 1 Bondgate Within is a late 19th-century building that has been adapted from an older structure. It stands two storeys high with an attic, and three storeys on the east side, featuring one and two windows on each level. The exterior is made of coursed squared rubble with dressed quoins and dressings. It has late glazed sash windows and includes one two-light dormer. To the left, there is a gable end set at a slight angle. The late 19th-century shop front consists of two windows, panelled pilasters, and dentils along the cyma cornice, with a doorway to the left. There is another doorway on the right that leads to a through passage. The building features a three-storey section called Hotspur, which has three windows on the first floor and a small attic window under the eaves with glazing bars. There is also another shop window on the right, similar to the one on the north front. The building is listed mainly for its group value and the design of its east front.
