Description
No. 18 Queen Street is a shop building from the mid-18th century that has undergone later alterations, including a late 19th-century shop front. The structure is made of rendered and whitewashed brick, topped with a roof of black-glazed pantiles and featuring a truncated brick stack at the right end.
The exterior consists of two low storeys with a three-bay front. On the left side, there is a full-height shop front framed by Composite pilasters and a cornice supported by oversized moulded corbels with segmental caps. The shop front includes plate glass windows surrounded by green faience tiles, flanking a central recessed door beneath a deep fascia and canopy box. To the right, there is a two-storey canted bay window with horned sashes that do not have glazing bars. The building has a full-width moulded eaves cornice. At the rear, there is a second parallel range.
On the right return, there is a small single light on the ground floor at the right end and one 0/0 horned sash window on the first floor. The gable wall of the rear range has no openings. The interior has not been inspected.
