Description
The entrance screen adjacent to North Lodge was built in 1887 by Lish. It is constructed from squared rubble with ashlar dressings. The screen features rectangular gatepiers with raised center panels topped by pediments above fluted friezes. The upper sections of the gatepiers are octagonal and adorned with scrolled brackets, with a carved bull on the right pier and a cock on the left. Each pier has moulded caps with urn finials. There are similar but simpler outer piers. To the left, a low wall with moulded coping connects to North Lodge, while to the right, a similar wall leads to a taller panelled wall that has a moulded plinth, frieze, and cornice. The piers at the center and ends of the screen also feature panelled friezes and ball finials.
