Description
The Benson of Allerwash Memorial Gates were erected in 1912 in memory of Lieutenant Colonel G. E. Benson of Allerwash, who died in 1901, by his brother. The gates feature large double gates made of ornate cast iron, decorated with swags and gilt details in the center. They are supported by ashlar piers that have panelled surfaces and are topped with a modillion cornice. Flanking the main gates are lower side gates and quadrant railings attached to the lower piers. The piers have plain caps on the sides, which are square and include torches in the center that bear lanterns.
