Description
The statue of Lieutenant Colonel G.E. Benson is located at the southern end of Beaumont Street and was erected around 1910 through public subscription. This large bronze statue commemorates a Boer War hero, depicted striding forward while holding binoculars. It stands on a high moulded plinth that supports a cube-shaped pedestal. A circular modern verge and flowerbed are situated below the statue.
