Description
Burn Brae House is a late 18th century to early 19th century building located on the south side of Hencotes. It stands three storeys tall and features three windows facing the street. The structure is built of brick, with stone lintels, keys, and cills. It has glazing bar sash windows, with tripartite arrangements at the sides. The coped verges are supported by kneelers. A late 19th century wooden porch projects from the front, designed with a Venetian motif, featuring a barrel roof, a panelled door with a fanlight, and sidelights. The east end gable includes a Venetian window on both the ground and first floors, and a lunette on the second floor, which has the date 1847 inscribed in the keystone, indicating alterations and additions made to the rear. There is a later three-storey extension to the south, which has two plus one windows and an entrance at the angle with the original house, facing the street. This extension also features glazing bar sash windows with stone lintels.
