Description
The Methodist Church, dated 1825 on the door jamb, features a Sunday School extension from 1875, as indicated on the lintel. The building is constructed of rubble, partly rendered, and includes a squared stone porch topped with a slate roof. It is a single tall storey with three bays. The central gabled porch has double doors and a fanlight with radial glazing set under a semicircular arch. The name of the church, Limestone Brae Wesleyan Methodist Church, along with the date of construction, is incised and painted on the jambs and arch. The gable is coped and features moulded kneelers and a pyramid finial. Flanking the porch are margined sash windows with semicircular heads. The roof is hipped and covered with slate.
To the right, there is a lower two-bay extension that has a boarded door beneath a tall margined fanlight, with the lintel inscribed 'JUBILEE SUNDAY SCHOOL' along with its date. Adjacent to this is another margined sash window. A brick chimney is located on the right gable. The left return displays two margined sash windows with semicircular heads. The rear elevation features two additional similar windows, while the Sunday School section to the left has two 12-pane sashes. Most windows retain 19th-century coloured glazing. The interior has not been seen.
