Description
Whiteley Shield Methodist Chapel is a Methodist chapel built in 1857. It is constructed of rubble with rusticated quoins and dressings, topped with a slate roof. The chapel is one tall storey high and features three bays. At the center, there is a projecting porch made of ashlar stone, which has a renewed door with an old fanlight set under a round arch and cornice. Above the door, there is a panel inscribed with "PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHAPEL" and the date. The gable is coped and includes kneelers. On either side of the porch, there are twenty-pane sash windows with semicircular heads and rusticated voussoirs. Inside, there are some contemporary fittings, including a dais with turned balusters.
