Description

The Presbytery attached to the Roman Catholic Church of All Saints is a Roman Catholic presbytery built around 1811, possibly incorporating some materials from Thropton Old Hall. The north wing was raised in the later 19th century. The building features horizontally-tooled stone with an ashlar door surround and band, and it has a Scottish slate roof, except for the north wing, which has Welsh slates.

The east elevation is two storeys high and has three bays, arranged symmetrically. It includes a plinth and a first-floor band. There are three steps leading up to a central 20th-century glazed door, which is topped by a radial fanlight and surrounded by an archivolt, moulded imposts, half-round pilasters, and a moulded cornice. The windows are plain sash style with slightly projecting sills. The roof is hipped and features two stepped and banded ridge stacks.

The lower one-bay north wing, which is set back to the right, has a similar ground-floor window and a stepped and corniced stack at the right end. The two-bay left return of the main block mirrors the details of the east elevation, while the rear elevation includes a stair projection with 16-pane sash windows on the left. An outbuilding located to the west of the north wing is not of special interest.
