Description
The glass houses in the walled garden at Longhirst Hall are listed as a group of conservatories. The eastern pair was possibly built around 1825 and may have originally served as an aviary, while the western conservatory was likely constructed in the late 19th century. The structures are made of ashlar, brick, wood, and glass. The eastern conservatories are positioned on a slope and consist of eight bays, featuring glazed openings between pilasters that support a projecting eaves course, with angle pilasters extending to the ground. They have a pent glazed roof against the garden wall. The western conservatory is set on a rendered brick plinth and also has eight bays, with the left bay containing a door and a gablet above.
