Description

14 and 16 Saint Michael's Lane are early 19th-century buildings, possibly linked to the Howick Street development. They are two storeys tall, with No 14 featuring a basement and a window arrangement of 2+3. The buildings are constructed of ashlar and have a simple moulded eaves cornice. The slate roof has a coped verge on the left, with one brick chimney on the ridge and another positioned to the right behind the ridge. Both buildings have glazing bar sash windows. No 14 features a tall round-headed doorway with steps leading up to a six-panel door, where the top four panels are raised and fielded, and a pointed glazing fanlight above. There is also a depressed arch leading to a through passage and yard on the left. No 16 has a central doorway with an attractive bracketed segmental stone hood and a six-panel door.
