Description

This is a late 18th-century house located on the west side of Shield Street in Allendale. The house is constructed of rubble with stone dressings, and has a stone slate roof, with a corniced stone gable stack. It is two storeys high and has three bays. A renewed door is set within a contrasting surround between the first and second bays, and a similar doorway, now blocked, is situated between the second and third bays. A nine-pane window is set in a contrasting surround between the doors, while the remaining windows are sash windows that have lost their original glazing bars. These windows have tooled lintels and sills.
