Description
Hammershield Farmhouse and the attached farm buildings date from the mid-19th century. They are constructed from squared stone with tooled and margined quoins, and feature a hipped slate roof with stone stacks. The house and buildings are arranged in an overall 'H' plan. The farmhouse is two storeys high with three wide bays, and the central bay is set forward. The sashes in the central bay have been altered and are margined. The farm buildings are attached to the rear, with byres in the central section and a Dutch Barn in the rear left wing. This site is an unusual example of a relatively small-scale planned farmstead.
