Description

The Red Lion Inn is an 18th-century inn that incorporates earlier elements and was enlarged in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble with stone dressings and features a slate roof that is hipped to the east wing. There is an ashlar stack on the left gable and two brick ridge stacks.

The front of the building has two storeys with four windows and a projecting east bay. The ground floor has altered openings, and a small projecting porch contains a six-panel door with raised alternating jambs. To the right, there is a 16-pane sash window, which is likely re-set. On the first floor, there are three 12-pane sash windows under wedge lintels with triple keystones, along with a 16-pane sash in a similar copied opening. The east bay features 16-pane sashes in raised surrounds. To the left of the porch, there is a five-step mounting block. The irregular right return has three bays with similar fenestration and an elliptical carriage arch to the right.
