Description

This is likely a bastle house, now used as a workshop. It probably dates to the late 16th and early 17th centuries and has undergone alterations since. The building is constructed of squared rubble with a corrugated-asbestos roof. It was probably originally two storeys high but now appears as a long, low, single-storey building. It features massive, roughly-squared quoins. An unusual feature is the doorway, which is set in the centre of the long wall rather than a gable end. The doorway has a large, roughly-squared jamb and lintel with a cambered top, chamfered inner edges, a deep rebate, and a drawbar socket. A boulder plinth and a partially-blocked window are visible on the right return. Modern openings have been added to the rear of the building. The roof is pitched.
